The Background
The British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) is the UK’s most exclusive motorsport organisation. With its headquarters located at the iconic Silverstone circuit, the clubhouse is a striking modern building, positioned at the heart of the track. It offers breathtaking panoramic views alongside a prestigious hospitality experience for its members and guests.

The Task
The BRDC set out to upgrade its clubhouse interior to deliver a more contemporary and engaging environment. The existing layout featured a mix of banquette dining on the ground floor and lounge-style seating on the first floor. While functional, this more traditional arrangement did not fully maximise the incredible trackside views or encourage social interaction.
The aim of this project was to create a modern, versatile space where professionals could comfortably socialise, meet, and enjoy uninterrupted views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. A key challenge was that guests felt like they were missing out on the spectacular scenery, highlighting the need for a higher seating solution. The vision was clear: transition from low-level lounge and banquet seating to a cohesive poseur-height scheme.

As a new client, the BRDC approached Contract Furniture Group via the website with a well-defined concept. Our experienced sales team worked closely with the client to refine this vision, offering tailored product recommendations, finish options, and fabric guidance. With a tight four-week turnaround required, the team carefully selected products available on short lead times and managed the project proactively from concept through to delivery.
The Work
To transform the BRDC clubhouse hospitality space, a coordinated collection of poseur-height furniture was proposed, combining style, durability, and practicality.
At the centre of the scheme was the Camden High Chair, chosen for its contemporary design and comfort, featuring wooden legs and a brass footrest. Samples of stains and upholstery were provided to ensure alignment with the clubhouse’s interior scheme.
Each chair was upholstered in Saddle Iliv, a worn-look faux leather that delivers both aesthetic appeal and high performance. With stain-resistant, antibacterial, and waterproof properties, it is ideally suited to the demands of busy hospitality environments. Saddle was chosen in Pewter and Mist, two shades of grey, which added visual contrast. The frames were finished in an Antique Wood polish, complementing existing furniture and adding warmth to the space.

A total of 76 Camden High Chairs were produced and upholstered at the Nottingham facility, ensuring quality control and a consistent finish throughout. These were distributed across both floors to replace the previous lounge and dining arrangements, creating cohesive and functional social areas.
To accompany the seating, 700mm square laminate table tops in Grey Chicago were selected. This finish offers a subtle concrete effect, adding texture while pairing seamlessly with the aged leather upholstery. Laminate surfaces provide excellent durability, are easy to maintain, and are highly resistant to scratches, making them a practical choice for hospitality settings.
The table tops were supported by Profile Round Poseur Height Bases in chrome, offering a clean, understated look. The slimline design ensures ample legroom while maintaining stability, even with multiple chairs arranged around each table.
Additional seating was positioned along the expansive windows, allowing guests to fully enjoy the spectacular track views without needing to leave the table.

To extend the experience outdoors, furniture was also supplied for the clubhouse balcony, where members can enjoy a enhanced perspective of the circuit.
The Geneva Complete Tables in black were specified for this area, featuring a slatted aluminium top and frame with PE weave detailing. These tables are both durable and stackable, ideal for flexible outdoor use.
Paired with these were Sorrento Armchairs, also finished in a PE weave. This combination delivers a cohesive aesthetic while ensuring weather resistance and long-term performance in outdoor conditions.
The Result
The collaboration with the BRDC was seamless from start to finish, demonstrating the strength of Contract Furniture Group’s end-to-end service - from initial consultation and product selection to manufacturing and delivery within a tight timeframe.
The finished clubhouse now presents a modern, elevated interior that enhances both functionality and experience. By transitioning to poseur-height seating, the design maximises sightlines across the track while creating vibrant spaces for socialising, networking, and informal meetings.
The client shared the following feedback:
“With some important decisions to make about products and finishing options, it was made so much easier by the quality of your website and the clarity of the information available. Coupled with the helpful advice that you have given me, this has led to some brilliant outcomes for the BRDC Clubhouse. From the website, I've been able to take a closer look at who makes up the Contract Furniture Group team, and it made me appreciate how much of an effort it must have been behind the scenes to make sure the delivery of our Camden Chairs was more towards the 4 week lead time.
Thank you all for pulling out all the stops. It would have been disastrous for us not to have the furniture in position for the weekend, and you didn't let me down.”

This project showcases Contract Furniture Group’s ability to combine expert guidance, responsive customer service, and a diverse product range to deliver high-quality results within demanding timescales. The BRDC clubhouse now stands as a refined, contemporary hospitality space befitting one of motorsport’s most prestigious institutions.
